If you have a history of stroke, you are high risk for having another stroke. 1 in 4 stroke survivors has another stroke within 5 years.
To reduce your risk of another stroke, control medical conditions (heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity) and adopt healthy lifestyle habits.
Stroke rehabilitation starts in the hospital within a day or two after the stroke. Recovery time after a stroke is different for everyone. Some individuals fully recover but others have lifelong disabilities. Calling 9-1-1 and getting to the hospital quickly is key to stroke care and recovery.
